KYA & KUNA
Kentucky Youth Assembly and Kentucky United Nations Assembly are open to grades 7-12. Students have weekly Y Club meetins to prepare for two three-day conferences hosted by the Kentucky YMCA Youth Assocation in Louisville. KYA and KUNA are designed to allow students to participate in model government programs.
KYA emulates the Commonwealth government, with a focus on drafting legislation, while KUNA emulates the United Nations. Each teaches critical thinking, rhetoric, and the importance of civic involvement. There is a high school organization (grades 9-12) and a middle school organization (grades 6-8).
