Kentucky Youth Assembly & Kentucky United Nations Assembly

KYA and KUNA is open to 6th grade students. Students have Y Club meetings to prepare for three-day conferences in Louisville hosted by the Kentucky YMCA Youth Assocation. The conferences are designed to allow students to participate in model government programs.

KYA emulates the Commonwealth government, with a focus on drafting legislation, while KUNA emulates the United Nations. Each teaches critical thinking, rhetoric, and the importance of civic involvement. Sixth graders attend Middle School KYA and KUNA with Villa 7th and 8th grade students. There are separate KYA and KUNA programs for grades 9-12.
