Shoot A Thon

Our 33rd Annual Villa Athletic Boosters Shoot-A-Thon

was held January 20, 2024.

The Athletic Boosters host 2 fundraisers (Golf Outing and Shoot-a-Thon) that provide major support for ALL of Villa’s athletic programs.

Our 32nd Annual Shoot-a-Thon was Saturday, January 28th. We raised more than $11,000 for Villa Athletics! The event is broken down into different fun events for all.

Free Throw Contest

Students are encouraged to find sponsors to pledge an amount of money per shot made within a 3-minute period from an age appropriate distance and height. Families or sponsors may also choose to make a flat donation instead. Prizes will be awarded to the top shooters and fundraisers! Parents, coaches, and faculty are also invited to compete. For an entry fee of $10, you will have the opportunity to see how many shots you can make from the standard foul line in a 2-minute period. The contestant making the most shots will split this contest pot with the Boosters (and have some great bragging rights!).

Half-Court Shot Competition

All participants, including adults, are invited to participate in the Half-Court Shot Competition taking place every hour on the hour. Entry fee is $10. Anyone who makes a half-court shot will split this contest pot with any other successful shooters and the Boosters!

Competition Is Open to Everyone!

You do not have to be on a Villa basketball team to participate in this fun event. If you or your family wants to try your hand at the Free Throw Contest or the Half-Court shot, please join us! Simply complete the pledge sheet, and show up anytime between 9AM and 3PM. Tell the registration volunteers that you are in the Open Division!

The concession stand will be open during Shoot-a-Thon. Cash only please!

Top Open Division Shooter – grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12
Top Shooter In Grade – top male and female shooter from each grade

Team Photos

Basketball team yearbook and individual photos will also be taken that day at each team’s designated time in the gym conference room, so please arrive in uniform. Immediately following photos, your team will proceed to the gym floor for the Shoot-a-Thon competition.

Time Line 2024

January 7 – January 20 - Players collect pledges and donations.
Saturday, January 20 - Shoot-a-thon Day – Competition and basketball team photos.

CHECK IN - You must turn in a pledge sheet at the check in table in the gym foyer in order to participate in the competition. If all of your pledges are flat (no per shot pledges), please submit your donation at the registration table when you arrive (cash, Venmo, or check made payable to Villa Madonna Academy).

BASKETBALL TEAM PHOTOS - Staging Area will be next to the Concession Stand for basketball team photos. Photos will be in the Conference Room. Please wear your basketball uniform.

SHOOT - Teams will shoot together and rebound for each other. Volunteers will assist with Open Division shooters and shot recording.

REPORT - When you are finished shooting, make sure your coach or a volunteer records your results.

CHECK OUT - If you have per shot pledges, return to the registration table to complete your donation. After recording your score and pledges, the pledge sheet will be returned to you, if necessary, so that you can collect your pledges and reimburse yourself for the amount paid on the day of the event. If you do not pay on the day of the event, please turn in all money to school no later than February 2nd to be eligible for prizes.
