Service with a Smile
May 09, 2016
These smiling faces show Villa Madonna Academy's commitment to service. It's one of the Benedictine values upon which our school was founded. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade perform service hours for various locations.
This year, our sophomores partnered with Magnified Giving, an organization that gives grants to groups who are raising money to do good in their communities. The students raised funds through bake sales and other activities, and with a grant from Magnified Giving, they were able to donate $2,000 to organizations that they had researched and chosen. The sophomores donated $1,000 to 4 Paws for Ability, an organization that trains service dogs for children and veterans with disabilities; Elementz (seen above), an urban arts center for inner-city youth, received $500; and Childhood Food Solutions, an organization that provides summer sack lunches and other food services to inner-city children in Cincinnati, also received $500.
Service is an important part of a Villa education as teachers strive to prepare students for active role in the greater community. For more information about Villa Madonna Academy, please contact Admissions Director Janet Baugh at 859-331-6333 ext. 139.
